'Oldboy Film Concert' was held at Jecheon Gymnasium on August 13th, 2023 commemorating the 20th anniversary of the release of the film 'Oldboy In conjunction with the 19th Jecheon International Music & Film Festival. Maestro Han Joo-heon, who is working as a chief conductor at Linz Theater in Austria, along with a premier 60-member orchestra performed this concert. Three original score composers, Shim Hyun-jung, Lee Ji-soo, and Choi Seung-hyun aka Shawn Choi (myself) participated in the arrangement for this performance. Perhaps due to the order of composers' names, where I am positioned as the third by the Korean alphabetical order, sometimes my name was excluded by mistakes in some information of the film festival booklet's and some media articles, which was quite disappointing.
But I am grateful to have been part of this Korean film that will remain in the global film history, and for the opportunity to work on this film with Music Director Cho Young-wook and Director Park Chan-wook, who created this film. I also extend my gratitude to composer Shim Hyun-jung, who composed a significant portion of the score, including the themes for Mi-do and Oldboy, and composer Lee Ji-soo, who composed Woo-jin's theme.
And I also want to express my gratitude to the film festival organizers and all involved for planning this concert.
